We spent the day visiting the Taj Mahal and Red Fort in Agra. Everything you hear about these sites is definitely true. Both incredible feats of architecture. The Taj Mahal was built in 1632 as the tomb for the emperors favorite wife. It took 22 years to build. All in what marble with inlaid stone.
It was nice to see that most of the visitors were from India. Lots of people but not overly crowded. It was interesting to see the Indian culture at its best ... how they go through lines, how they buy tickets, how they direct people, how crowds behave, when to take shoes off, how vendors sell their wares ... families taking pictures, children everywhere. A great overall experience.
After a great lunch and some rest, we headed to the airport in Delhi ... a 4 hour drive for a 4am flight. It was a long long long day for our final day of this adventure.
We finally boarded our flights to Abu Dhabi and Doha to get started on our way to Dallas.
What an adventure!
